Snowy roads, arctic air slowing Thursday commutes


Denver set a new record Thursday morning, falling to minus seven degrees. Cold temperatures and a few inches of snow wreaked havoc on the roads, creating adverse driving conditions across much of the region.

9:35 a.m. US Highway 6 eastbound is closed at Road Closed at Wadsworth Boulevard, due to an accident.

9:30 a.m. Westbound Interstate 70 is open at the Eisenhower Tunnel, after being closed for about two hours due to a crash.

9:15 a.m. US Highway 6 via Loveland Pass is opening in both directions after being closed overnight for safety reasons.

9:15 a.m. Southbound Interstate 225 was closed at Mississippi Avenue, due to an accident. It opened after a short period of time. Aurora is back on crash alert.

8:55 Interstate 25 northbound at Meadows Parkway via Happy Canyon Road near Castle Rock was closed very briefly due to an accident.

8:10 a.m. Northbound Interstate 25 was in two lanes due to an accident on Colorado Boulevard. This stretch of road is clear.

7:45 am Interstate 76 was in a westbound left lane between Sheridan Boulevard and Wadsworth Boulevard, due to a disabled tractor-trailer. This problem has been fixed.

7:42 Interstate 25 was in two lanes southbound at RidgeGate Parkway, thanks to an accident. He was released after an hour.

7:35 am Southbound Interstate 25 between County Line Road and Lincoln Avenue near Lone Tree had one lane closed due to an accident. It reopened after half an hour.

7:33 am Westbound Interstate 70 was in a lane on Federal Boulevard due to an accident. It reopened after 8 a.m.

7:19 Northbound Interstate 25 was briefly closed between Plum Creek Parkway and Wilcox Street in Castle Rock, due to an accident. Traffic is always slow and one lane less to take in the area.

7:13 a.m. Southbound Interstate 25 was slowed at Happy Canyon Road near Castle Pines due to a crash that caused a lane closure. This problem has been solved.

07:00 Westbound Interstate 70 reopened to traffic between 32nd Avenue and Colorado Mills Parkway after two lanes were closed for about 30 minutes.

6:59 Eastbound Interstate 70 had its left lane closed due to an accident at Harlan Street. It reopened after 8 a.m.

5:25 Southbound Interstate 25 was on a lane between Greenland and County Line Road near Monument Hill. It reopened after 8 a.m.
